Image Representation (4 levels):
objects/ a scene - (2-d projection, sampling/quantizing)-> digital image - (regions, edges, scale, interest points, texture, motion) -> image with features -> objects
Image Analysis - computer vision techniques
- low level
1) image acquisition (captaured/sensed, digitized)
2) preprocessing (noise suppression, enhancement of some object features - eg. edge extraction)
3) image segmentation (objects from the background)
> higher level
1) reducing the data quantity
2) knowledge about the image content - object size, shape, etc
3) expressed in symbolic form (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formal_language)
4) feedback from high-level to low-level
digital manipulation -> preprocessing -> segmentation -> recognition -> understanding
